Standing Desks
Jul 30Rank Trend
How top brands moved week over week. Rank 1 is the top position.
UPLIFT lost its clean sweep. All four engines put it in the aggregate top slot last run, and this run ChatGPT puts FlexiSpot there instead. FlexiSpot is now the sole mention leader at twelve to eleven. It was named in all twelve responses while UPLIFT missed the ChatGPT budget answer entirely. The two-brand lock itself is intact. Both brands still hold the top two positions in every engine column, and UPLIFT still leads the explicit ranking prompt in all four engines. Underneath them the field thinned and refilled. Secretlab, Fully, Vari and Branch all lost ground, Deskhaus went from two mentions to zero, and IKEA entered cold at four across three engines.
Top Brands by AI Mention Frequency
Mention frequency counts how many times a brand appeared across all AI responses. This differs from top-pick rank, which reflects each model’s #1 choice.
Opportunity for Brands
- Deskhaus is the story this run.
- It went from two mentions in two engines to zero.
- Last run this read called it the clearest challenger movement in the category.
- A challenger can be named a breakout and be gone from the index ten days later.
- Nothing replaced it in the enthusiast tier.
- Arozzi, SHW and iMovR also fell to zero, so the entire single-mention tail from last run cleared out at once.
- IKEA took the space instead.
- Four mentions across ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity, the widest reach of any brand entering cold.
- It arrives through the budget prompt rather than the ergonomics one.
- IKEA is also the counterexample this run.
- Four mentions in three engines and not one top-three slot in any engine column.

What This Means
- The cross-agent table above ranks the top three for each engine across all three prompts.
- Read prompt by prompt the split is sharper.
- UPLIFT leads the explicit ranking prompt in all four engines, the only unanimous result in this run.
- FlexiSpot leads the under-six-hundred-dollar prompt in three of four, with Gemini the holdout on UPLIFT.
- On open discovery UPLIFT leads three of four and ChatGPT opens with FlexiSpot instead.
- Breadth varies by nearly a factor of two.
- ChatGPT names twenty brand positions across its three answers and Gemini names eleven.
- ChatGPT is the only engine to surface Haworth, ApexDesk, Bush and Steelcase.
- Those names come out of its price listings rather than its written recommendation.
- Fezibo lives entirely inside Claude.
- VertDesk, NewHeights, Monoprice and Burrow live entirely inside Perplexity.
Why These Brands Win
- All four engines treat a dual-motor frame as the baseline for nine hours a day at a desk.
- Single-motor and crank models are named only as things to avoid.
- Programmable height presets appear in ten of twelve responses and warranty length in ten.
- Every brand arrives attached to a specific frame and a stated weight capacity.
- UPLIFT V2 and V3, FlexiSpot E7 and E7 Pro, Branch Duo.
- The recommendation unit in this category is the model, not the brand.
- All twelve responses recommend hardware the desk does not include.
- Monitor arms, anti-fatigue mats, footrests and keyboard trays appear in every single answer.
- Seven of the twelve say outright that the desk alone will not fix the neck and back stiffness.
- Lateral wobble at standing height is argued in nine of twelve, and ChatGPT never raises it once.

How we measure this
Each benchmark runs the same standardized prompts across multiple leading AI systems, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. We use consistent, category-specific questions designed to surface genuine product recommendations — not sponsored results.
Responses are parsed to extract brand mentions, rank position, and frequency. We then analyze cross-model agreement, identify which brands consistently appear in top positions, and flag where AI outputs diverge from marketplace trends.
Evergreen categories are benchmarked monthly. Results reflect organic AI behavior at the time of testing. Read the full methodology
